Position description

The Department of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego (http://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/eyes/Pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department of Ophthalmology, Shiley Eye Center, UCSD Vision Research and Rady Children's Hospital are expanding. The Department is recruiting for a physician specializing in Pediatric Ophthalmology.

This position will be an academic appointment with clinical, educational, teaching and research responsibilities. Clinically the candidate will contribute to a robust pediatric ophthalmology practice serving the children of San Diego at both the Rady Children's Hospital via the Rady Children's Health Network and the UC San Diego Ratner Children's Eye Center. The amalgamation of Rady and UCSD resources into one program represents an exciting and unique opportunity.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD and fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology and have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Preferred qualifications

Candidates with strong clinical skills, outstanding productivity, and interest in research are preferred.
