Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (HS Clinical) Pediatric Pathologist

University of California San Diego

The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) (http://pathology.ucsd.edu/) and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego (RCHSD) (https://www.rchsd.org/) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and are seeking a Pediatric Pathologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.

Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego is a 505-bed, primary through quaternary care hospital and is the only regional pediatric hospital. RCHSD is the clinical home of the UCSD Department of Pediatrics, and the majority of neonatal and pediatric surgeries in the area are performed here. Neonatology is listed #4 and Orthopedics #7 in the U.S. News & World Report 2020-2021 Best Children's Hospitals national rankings. There are strong programs in Neuro-Oncology and Cardiac, Kidney, and Bone Marrow Transplantation, and the Pediatric Oncology Program is part of the UCSD NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Pediatric Pathology Division is the only group of pathologists dedicated to the practice of pediatric pathology in San Diego County. The Pathology Departments at RCHSD and UCSD include state-of-the-art laboratories that offer on-site pediatric inpatient and outpatient services.

The Pediatric Pathology Division at RCHSD currently has 5 fulltime pathologists and provides a full range of anatomic and clinical pathology services, with approximately 12,000 surgical pathology cases, 400 bone marrow biopsies, and 20 autopsies per year. The Department participates in ACGME-accredited fellowships in Surgical Pathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, and Hematopathology at the UCSD School of Medicine and trains medical students and residents in pediatric pathology from the UCSD School of Medicine, San Diego Naval Hospital, and elsewhere.

Candidates must have an MD and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Anatomic, Clinical and Pediatric Pathology.

Candidates with strong pediatric anatomic and clinical pathology diagnostic skills are preferred.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
