Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist - MED - Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology

The Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology at University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seek applicants for a Project Scientist position.

Candidates must have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD in cell, molecular biology, biochemistry or related discipline. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must have knowledge of immunology and must have cell biology/molecular biology experience, such as tissue culture, qPCR, western blot, immunostaining, and FACS.

Candidates with hands-on experience in designing and performing complex experiments on novel targets and with familiarity with basic concepts of genomics, such as RNAseq are preferred. Candidates with breadth in drug discovery cycle and experience with in vivo pharmacology in rodents and/or bioinformatics are preferred.

The role is target validation in primary human cells in order to identify and prioritize candidate therapeutics. The position requires both directed and team science.

Appointment will be at Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
