Assistant Professor/Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering Researcher

The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a faculty member as a full-time biomechanics and biomedical engineering researcher to direct a research laboratory focusing on orthopaedic foot and ankle biomechanics. This hire requires the candidate to hold a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or biomechanics. Primary responsibilities include directing a research laboratory focusing on foot and ankle biomechanics, mentoring students, and securing research funding. The successful candidate will have a background in foot and ankle biomechanics, a successful track record of funding in the field, and will maintain active collaborations with surgeons and researchers in the Department of Orthopaedics, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, and the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Utah. Additional encouraged collaborations include the Veteran Affairs Medical Center and Salt Lake City Shriners Hospital for Children.

Secondary responsibilities include mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in the completion of their degree requirements and mentoring residents and clinical fellows in biomechanics research.
