Associate or Full Professor (Adjunct, In-Residence) Radiology Imaging

The Department of Radiology, at UC San Diego (http://radiology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks a faculty member.

UCSD has a comprehensive array of facilities for human studies and small animal imaging. The current MR facilities include several 1.5T and 3T GE, Siemens and Cannon scanners, a cryogen-free 4.7T MR Solutions scanner with variable field strengths (0.1-4.7T), as well as a Bruker 7T scanner and a Bruker 11.7T scanner.

The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators developing advanced imaging techniques with an emphasis on MR imaging, towards qualitative and quantitative evaluation and characterization of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. The candidate will be expected to optimize the translational research opportunities afforded by a tertiary referral health center, with vigorous collaborations with other radiologists, scientists, engineers and a variety of clinical subspecialists dedicated to diagnosis and treatment of such disorders. There will be significant emphasis on teaching and training, given the premier status of UCSD as teaching and research University.

The applicant must have a PhD in medical physics, bioengineering or a related field, with a broad background in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology, or Biomedical Sciences. Extensive and broad experience in MRI applications, pulse sequence development and imaging reconstruction with clinical MRI or NMR scanners, in combination with translation to clinical applications will be sought. The applicant must have outstanding writing and communication skills, demonstrable liaison with the corporate world of MRI vendors and other universities, and international reputation attested to by a successful publication or patent record, honors and awards.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments will require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
