The Colgate Bookstore is Central New Yorks largest independent bookstore, located in a historic three-story building in the heart of Hamilton. Accountabilities:
Accountable for the Bookstore's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. Responsible for accurate records and timely processing of documents, which may include invoices, credits, check posting, and credit card reconciliation. Works closely with the management team to create and analyze financial reports, along with evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency. Accountable for timely and accurate analysis and execution of administrative tasks as assigned, which may include reconciliation of cash counts, credit card posting, ordering cash, sorting mail, answering phone calls, and filing. Accountable for setting up Vendor contact information, specific to statements, invoices, credit discrepancies, and new vendor set up with Purchasing. Provide support to the register area and other areas as determined by the supervisor.

Professional Experience/Qualifications
  • Three to five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment with time sensitive deadlines.
  • Proven ability for attention to detail for inventory accuracy and data entry.
  • Requires excellent skills with technology, such as email, spreadsheets and inventory systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an accounting or bookkeeping setting/department.
  • Experience with Point of Sales Systems.
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel.


Education
Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills have been obtained.

Weekdays, with occasional weekends.
