Assistant, Associate or Full Professor
The Department of Surgery (https://surgery.ucsd.edu/index.html), Division of Surgical Sciences is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body.
We seek faculty to join a highly interdisciplinary program within the UC San Diego, Department of Surgery, dedicated to advancing the detection and treatment of surgical diseases.

The selected candidates will be responsible for research related to surgically managed diseases, teaching and university service, and/or the clinical care of patients.
Candidates must have a PhD in biological sciences or similar areas, and/or a MD or equivalent. Candidates with a MD or equivalent with clinical duties must be Board certified or Board eligible in a surgical specialty and must also be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates with an established, independent, and extramurally funded research program in basic science or health services/population science research related to surgically managed diseases are preferred.
The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and the series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

The selected candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality training and teaching, delivering clinical care to patients or conducting research.
Candidates must have a MD or equivalent and/or a PhD in biological sciences or similar areas. Candidates with a MD or equivalent with clinical duties must be Board certified or Board eligible in a surgical specialty and must also be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.
The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $175,500 - $450,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
