The Department of Mathematics at Weber State University (WSU) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Applied Mathematics starting July 1, 2022. The successful candidate will be appointed as an Assistant Professor and must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. The candidate will be expected to teach upper level applied mathematics courses to help support the engineering programs at WSU, such as differential equations, linear algebra, and multi-variable calculus. In addition, teaching lower-division mathematics courses will be required, depending on departmental needs. The successful candidate should be capable of establishing an active and sustained research program that could incorporate undergraduate students. We seek an individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a record of teaching excellence, a demonstrated commitment to high-quality research that in part involves undergraduates, and an ability to link their research program to their teaching agenda.
A PhD or equivalent in applied mathematics or mathematics is required (or will be granted by the beginning of employment).
Preferred qualifications include knowledge and ability in statistics or data science/analytics and a willingness to establish cooperative course(s) in quantitative literacy with other departments.
