Job SummaryThe Principal AI Solutions Engineer will lead the design and development of our next-generation software solutions. In this role, you will be at the intersection of AI and real-world application, architecting and building systems that have a tangible impact on education and College operations. You will serve as an individual contributor in a team of talented individuals supporting the College's ambitions and aspirations through the rapid development of point solutions and meaningful integrations.
Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Rapidly architect, design, and develop point solutions, applications, and integrations using AI-native and modern "vibe-coding" techniques, such as Claude Code, Windsurf, Cursor, and others.
  • Lead the hands-on design and implementation of solutions leveraging LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and embedding techniques to solve complex College challenges.
  • Engage directly with faculty, researchers, and senior administrators to understand their needs and translate them into actionable AI strategies and technical solutions.
  • Architect solutions that connect cloud services (AWS), enterprise platforms, and third-party applications (e.g., Workday, Canvas) using modern APIs and middleware.
  • Take ownership of the technical success of AI projects, defining milestones and ensuring the on-schedule delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Support and maintain existing developed applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in software or AI engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise building and deploying LLM-powered applications.
  • Expertise in leveraging Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf or other AI code accelerators to enhance your foundational expertise in software development.
  • Expert-level understanding of scalable software architecture, CI/CD processes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Firebase).
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and mentoring other engineers.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Additional information:This is a full time, exempt level position with a salary range of $116,600-$131,000. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The College also offers a competitive benefits package for full-time staff, including:

  • This position may be eligible for a remote work arrangement; however, upon hire, candidates must reside in Massachusetts.
