ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR for DIRECTOR and ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF PATHOLOGY INFORMATICS

The Stanford Department of Pathology seeks pathologists with informatics expertise to be appointed as Director and as Associate Director of Pathology Informatics. This new team will be responsible for leadership and oversight of departmental pathology information systems. The successful candidates will develop an overall vision and strategic plan for pathology information technology that is well integrated with all hospital information systems, serves the needs of clinical operations, supports teaching and research, maintains reliable and safe performance of technology, supports quality improvement initiatives; and is compliant with regulatory requirements. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the University Medical Line or Clinician Educator Line.

The major criteria for appointment in the University Medical Line are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. There are many opportunities for University Medical Line faculty to develop independent or collaborative programs in clinical, translational or basic research. The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administration and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Successful candidates will join the faculty in the Department of Pathology, which currently includes a Nobel laureate, multiple members of the National Academies, and many other investigators with national and international distinctions. In conjunction with its outstanding research program, the Department of Pathology is responsible annually for over 16 million laboratory tests and 80,000 anatomic pathology specimens, and educates outstanding graduate students, residents and fellows.

Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (or equivalent qualification) and must hold an MD or MD/PHD and hold or acquire a license to practice medicine in the State of California. Informatics experience and/or fellowship training in Informatics is highly desired.
