Position description

The Department of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine at UC San Diego (http://psychiatry.ucsd.edu/Pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. UC San Diego Psychiatry faculty provide exceptional clinical care, cutting-edge research, and educational excellence.

We seek outstanding applicants for non-tenured/ non-tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an independent extramurally funded research program, and contribute to the educational mission of the University.

Successful candidate's research focus will be in at least one of the areas of research expertise in the department, including, but not limited to, neurocognitive disorders, eating disorders, addiction, mood regulation, central nervous system signaling pathways, neuromodulation, genetics, biomarkers, learning and memory, and the endocannabinoid system.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    Candidates must have an MD or PhD or equivalent, in a discipline illuminating the nature, mechanisms, and treatment of various neuropsychiatric disorders. Candidates with an MD and applying for a position with clinical responsibilities must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board. Candidates with a PhD and applying for a position with clinical responsibilities must have graduated from an APA-accredited doctoral program which includes completion of an APA-accredited internship.
