Description
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Mount Union invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science, to begin August 1, 2021.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach specific courses in the computer science curriculum, including, but not limited to, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Data Structures and Programming Languages, along with other courses of interest such as Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Device Programming. Mount Union offers an integrative liberal arts education that promotes leadership, collaboration, and innovation throughout its curriculum to help prepare students for the 21st century world. As such, faculty in our department collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and discuss computer science topics from the perspective of different disciplines, contexts, and cultures with both colleagues and students. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience with promoting inclusive excellence in computing is required. A preference will be given to individuals with previous online teaching experience.

Excellence in teaching is a requirement for the position; additional expectations of the candidate include professional development and scholarly activity, and service to the Department, the University, and the greater community.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline. ABD may be considered.

Mount Union's Department of Computer Science offers majors in computer science and multi-platform software development, with approximately 40 students in these majors last year.The Department also offers minors in computer science, database management, computer and network security, and web design. Currently, there are two full-time faculty members in the Department and this position will add a third. Manycourses meet in a computer teaching lab reserved for the Department's exclusive use, providing effective support for a hands-on instructional approach.
