Job Summary
The Department of Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) at Columbus State University (CSU) invites applications for a full time, tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Robotics Engineering. Columbus State is leading the region with a new Bachelor's and Master's of Science degree in Robotics Engineering and is one of the few pioneering institutions offering this exciting opportunity with a 4+1 option. This innovative program was designed in partnership with industry and military experts.

Responsibilities
Columbus State University expects faculty to be involved in a balance of teaching, research, and service activities. The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration; demonstrate an exceptional ability to function as part of a team with University faculty and the local community; and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.

The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Robotics Engineering, oversee student research, and advise and mentor students. Candidates must be able to develop and design new courses and laboratories in Robotics Engineering. The current teaching load is 12 hours per semester

Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a Doctorate in an Engineering field related to robotics, with a background in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related discipline. Candidates must also have effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; a proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other 2D and 3D modeling software, as well as programming languages including C, C++, Matlab, and Python.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include specialized experience in one or more of the following areas: Kinematics and dynamics of multi-linked manipulators, multi-agent systems, and/or three-dimensional modeling, synthesis, and application of robot systems with materials including wood, metal, and/or 3D-printed plastics. Preference will also be given to candidates with expertise in the application of robotics including, but not limited to Human-robot interaction, computer vision, robotic manipulation, soft robotics, machine learning, applications of robots in space, and military applications of robotics.
