The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Department of Pediatrics (http://pediatrics.ucsd.edu), and Rady Children's Hospital of San Diego (http://www.rchsd.org) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology is seeking to recruit a pediatric nephrologist or physician-scientist at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology is currently involved in basic science, clinical and translational research programs. Division faculty members are actively engaged in the training of UCSD medical students, and 72 pediatric residents. Our active long-standing ACGME accredited pediatric nephrology fellowship program currently has 3 current fellows. The Comprehensive Kidney Care Center, located at RCHSD, houses the general nephrology, transplant and dialysis clinics and a five-station pediatric dialysis unit. Activities include shared care for 15-25 dialysis patients and 10-15 new kidney transplant recipients per year, as well as active CRRT and apheresis programs. The Division has been consistently ranked in the top 30 in the Nation by the US News and World Report and most recently ranked 18th.

The successful candidate will be expected to serve as an attending in the outpatient clinic and on the inpatient Nephrology service, must possess excellent and demonstrable clinical and teaching skills. As clinical faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to develop clinical research and teaching programs.

Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or equivalent and be board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in the sub-specialty of Pediatric Nephrology. Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must have completed a fellowship training program at the time of hiring.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
