Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor of Information Sciences and Technology

Penn State Mont Alto invites applications for a fixed-term multi-year (FT-M) contract lecturer or assistant teaching professor position to teach in the Associate and Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences and Technology (IST) programs beginning August 2021. This is a full time, 36-week appointment. The successful applicant will teach introductory and upper-level courses in Information Technology (IT) and Cybersecurity, courses that require a strong understanding of introductory, distributed, and advanced database management, web site development, introductory and advanced programming, web application development, system analysis and design, business system development, and enterprise computer system development - both single service provider and unstructured.

The successful candidate will serve as the campus program lead related to curricular changes, assessment, etc. The successful applicant will also be responsible for but limited to the following:
  • Advise students and provide career guidance
  • Collaborate in recruitment and retention of IST/IT students
  • Participate in campus, university, and community service activities
  • Engage in activities to stay current in the discipline


The expectation is that the successful applicant will use traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods as needed, and teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening and/or Saturday classes as needed.

This appointment will be filled as an Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor rank. Successful applicants should have at a minimum an earned M.S. in Information Sciences and Technology or a closely related field to be considered as an Instructor. A Ph.D. is required to be appointed to the Assistant Teaching Professor rank. Experience as a practicing professional in an information science and/or technology field a plus. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is desired. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
