Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Physics

Penn State Brandywine invites applications for a faculty, non-tenure-line position, Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Physics, to begin August 8, 2022, or as negotiated. This is a 36-week, limited term (single year) academic appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire with a strong expectation of appointment renewal for subsequent periods.

Responsibilities include: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic person to teach 12 weekly hours per semester in introductory and intermediate undergraduate courses in Physics. Additional duties include participating in course, curriculum, program development, advising students, supervising student projects, providing career guidance, and participation in campus, university, and community service activities. Engaging in scholarly, professional development and activities to stay current in the discipline is also expected.

Some of the required teaching is in the area of General Physics, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Fluid and Thermal Physics, Wave Motion and Quantum Physics.

Other expectations include: commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment; demonstrate commitment to inclusive pedagogy in teaching and learning and achieving equity in educational outcomes.

Teaching assignments may require teaching day or evening classes if needed.

Qualifications: Minimum requirements include a Master's degree in relevant areas at time of appointment; Ph.D. preferred. Rank will be determined based on education and experience.

Additional preferences include: Evidence of commitment to and interest in active and collaborative learning, instructional use of technology, experience in online and hybrid course delivery, evidence of experience in multidisciplinary environment, demonstrated commitment to and ability/training in successfully advocating for diversity and values of diversity.
