Job Summary:
The Oregon Coast STEM Hub is seeking a Programming Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

This position is based at the Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC), which houses the Oregon Coast STEM Hub, researchers, educators, and resource managers from Oregon State University, Oregon Sea Grant and state and federal agencies. A wide variety of workshops, field trips, and short courses are offered for the public, schoolteachers, K-12 students, and other groups both onsite and elsewhere.

The Oregon Coast STEM Hub (OCSH) is a regional cross-sector collaborative that works to improve and guide integrated science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in Oregon coastal communities. This Hub is a collective impact partnership that is overseen by Oregon Sea Grant and is part of a larger statewide network of STEM Hubs funded and supported by the Oregon Department of Education. OCSH is currently seeking a Coordinator who will support the OCSH Director with educator professional development, community events, and student activities to support HUB initiatives such as STEM Early Learning and Career Connected Learning (job shadows, internships, etc.).

The OCSH is charged with leading the efforts of partners to create and deliver STEM educational programs designed to break through systemic barriers, provide inclusive access, open opportunities, and build confidence in K-12 students. The OCSH provides engaging learning experiences that promote and inspire educational and personal success among the educators and students it serves.

This employee will plan, organize, coordinate, evaluate and participate in activities for the Oregon Coast STEM Hub. They will provide communications support and will monitor and report metrics against program goals, and will interact with internal and external collaborators and stakeholders to build program support. Requires interaction with a diverse group of stakeholders and partners.

What You Will Need
  • Bachelors degree in science, education or other STEM-related field
  • 5 years informal education and/or K-12 classroom experience
  • Experience creating and maintaining partnerships
  • Experience in marketing, communications, and website development
  • Experience in curriculum development and running STEM programs for youth
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to promote collaboration, teamwork, and partnerships, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated project management, people, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and accessibility
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage workload with competing demands
  • Computer proficient (experience with spreadsheets, presentations, etc.)



This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid drivers license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
